Season Possibly Over for Marco Chavez
Wednesday, August 21st , 2109
The doctors have spoken and Marco Chavez of the San Diego (AZL) Padres didn't like what he heard. The 21-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Chavez sustained his season-ending injury during the Chicago A (AZL) White Sox game yesterday at Camelback Ranch. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the San Diego (AZL) medical staff reported Chavez had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 4-5 months.
Chavez has pitched 61 innings and molded a 6.20 ERA with no saves. He has surrendered 68 hits while registering 64 strikeouts on his way to a 3-4 record for the Padres this year.
