Lara Struts Stuff in Win Over Houston (GCL)
Friday, August 23rd , 2115
Washington (GCL) Nationals starter Bill Lara really did a number on the Houston (GCL) Astros, shutting them out, 5-0, on 2 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 14 strikeouts.
"We didn't have good at-bats," said Houston (GCL) manager Tom Swierczewski. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Lara."
To date this season, Lara sports a 3-3 mark with a 2.11 ERA in 7 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .240 batting average and has 51 strikeouts in 42.2 innings.
