Pirates Needham Gone for Year
Sunday, August 3rd , 2098
The doctors have spoken and David Needham of the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates didn't like what he heard. The 19-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Needham sustained his season-ending injury during the Detroit (GCL) Tigers game yesterday at Pirate City Complex. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Pittsburgh (GCL) medical staff reported Needham had shoulder inflammation and would be absent from the lineup for at least 4-5 months.

In 7 starts this season Needham has crafted a 1-1 record with a 0.91 ERA.
