Seattle (Rk+) RF Will Miss 3 Games, Suspended by League Thursday, August 9th , 2108 The league commissioner's office has notified the Seattle (Rk+) Mariners that right fielder Joel Maxwell has been given a 3-game suspension for his involvement in an incident with the home plate umpire in yesterday's Seattle (Rk+)-Las Vegas (Rk+) game at Ballpark of Sammamish. After being called out on a pitch that he deemed a ball, Maxwell aggressively expressed his displeasure and was promptly ejected from the game. In the league suspension notice, it stated that he was suspended for making an obscene gesture toward the umpires prior to entering the dugout. The league said that type of behavior would not be tolerated. Maxwell and the Mariners were unavailable for comment. Looking at his stats this year, Maxwell has compiled a .227 batting average, while hitting 7 home runs and driving in 23 runs. He has played in 31 games and scored 13 runs. |
