Mariners Capture West Tuesday, September 8th , 2111 It was far from a foregone conclusion, but the Seattle (Rk+) Mariners are now champions of the West. "We battled, day in and day out," said center fielder Ryan Wedler. "This is one to savor, as it was close right down to the end and that puts a lot of pressure on a team." With a record of 41-35, the Mariners have officially won their 28th division crown. Manager Ted Allen said there's "a lot of pride and excitement" involved in coming out on top of the West. The club will now be looking to win the 4th Pioneer League championship in franchise history. |
