Getting 4 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Tim Kingsley's day was a special one.

The catcher hit for the cycle to spark the Kansas City Royals to a 16-6 victory over the New York Yankees at Kauffman Stadium today. Kansas City manager Connor Gould said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Kingsley in particular.

"Tim caught me by surprise today," the skipper said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."

For the day, Kingsley finished with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.

Tim Kingsley hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Eddy Alvarez in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

So far this season Kingsley has 12 home runs and a .237 batting average.
