Cleveland Helpless Against Hoogkamp, Lose 3-0 Tuesday, September 25th , 2114 The Cleveland Guardians were almost helpless in their 3-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox and hurler Addy Hoogkamp. Hoogkamp kept the Guardians confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Hoogkamp," Cleveland manager Mike Nichols said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 23-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Hoogkamp said.
