Simmons Slams 6 Hits for Winnipeg
Monday, May 27th , 2109
Goldeyes right fielder Amari Simmons had his way with Medford pitching at Shaw Park and mauled them for 6 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Alouettes ruined his great day by toppling the Goldeyes, 8-7.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Medford credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 6 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Simmons did today," Alouettes skipper Shawn Lundstrom said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Amari Simmons singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Harry Ivey in the 9th and doubled in the 10th.
To date this year, Simmons is batting .277 with 1 home run.
