Kanai 5-for-6 Against Washington
Tuesday, June 16th , 2111
Sioux Falls Canaries first baseman Teruaki Kanai had a day to remember at Sioux Falls Stadium, ripping apart the Washington Whalers and sparking the 16-4 Canaries win.
Kanai wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Kanai told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Teruaki Kanai hit a two-run double in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
Kanai's current batting average stands at .351 and he has chalked up 6 home runs and 19 RBIs.
