Whalers Godina Raps 3 Homers
Friday, August 22nd , 2110
Felix Godina of the Whalers won the battle against Kansas City pitching, but lost the war. He hit three out of the park at Ballpark of Washington, got his name in the league record book, but Washington came up short in the win column, losing to the T-Bones, 11-10. The Washington first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploded off his bat all day long.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said. "I try to go out there and have good at-bats. If I put a good swing on the ball, then it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one. I just try to have good at-bats."
For the game, the 25-year old first baseman Godina went 4 for 5 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Where does he rank this day in his career? "It's up there," Godina said. "I'll put it up there in the upper echelon, despite the loss."
Felix Godina hit a two-run home run off Randy Mitchell in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Randy Mitchell in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jeff Sparks in the 9th.
This year, Godina is hitting at a .340 pace with 24 home runs and 59 RBIs. He has played in 85 games and scored 61 times.
