Munoz Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Railroaders
Friday, August 29th , 2110
St. Paul Saints third baseman Miguel Munoz almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 6 runs and had 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Saints to victory. The Cleburne Railroaders escaped with the win, 11-7, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Munoz.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Miguel Munoz struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jesus Claudio in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jesus Claudio in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Rogelio Sandoval in the 9th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said St. Paul manager Ryan Prince. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the American Association. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good American Association hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
Munoz is currently hitting at a .278 pace with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs and has scored 49 times.
