Saints Win Round 1 Wednesday, September 12th , 2108 The St. Paul Saints took time to celebrate with the St. Paul fans who stuck around after the game, following the team's Round 1 triumph over the Texas AirHogs. Members of the Saints hung around chatting, high-fiving and taking pictures with the St. Paul fans in attendance at AirHogs Stadium, long after the last pitch had been thrown in their 4-3 win to seal the series 4-1. "We've got great fan support," said second baseman Matt Huseman. "Whether we're at home or on the road, the fans support us. So we wanted to show them how important that is to us. Some Texas fans that were there even congratulated us on the win." For the series, Huseman hit .222 with a .222 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. Things weren't so cordial on the AirHogs side of things. Their clubhouse was closed to media after the game and all players and coaches quickly dressed and left the stadium after the end to their season. The St. Paul Saints don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Gary SouthShore RailCats - Sioux Falls Canaries series. Gary SouthShore leads the series 3 games to 1. The Round 2 is scheduled to begin on September 16th , 2108. |
