Victor Paredes picked a great time to have a career year.

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks relief ace was better than all others in the American Association this year and has won the Reliever of the Year for 2110. It comes at a time when he's an impending free agent.

"Of course you want to pitch well when you're in that situation, but of course, you want to pitch well all the time," the 27-year-old said.

For the year, Paredes had a 1.77 ERA, with 56 innings pitched. He made 38 relief appearances and had 13 saves, 62 strikeouts, 14 walks and a record of 6 wins and 1 loss.

He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Armando Nevarez of the Medford Alouettes finished second in voting, while Roberto Garza of the Winnipeg Goldeyes finished third.
