Sioux City's Gordon Elbows His Way to AA Award Monday, October 6th , 2110 With speculation about his retirement gaining steam last offseason, Explorers ace Brian Gordon had something to prove. He proved it in award-winning style as he accepted the American Association Outstanding Pitcher Award today. The veteran Sioux City hurler posted a record of 14 wins and 3 losses this year with a 2.97 ERA. In 21 starts he struck out 118 and walked 36 in 139.1 innings. He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 18. Curt Cooper of the Chicago Dogs finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Chris Valentine of the Washington Whalers finished third.
