AA Top Newcomer Named Sunday, October 5th , 2098 It was a standout 2098 season for Nick Barrera. The first baseman for the Bakersfield Otters has been named the winner of the American Association Newcomer of the Year Award. He hit .338 in 98 games with 121 hits and 82 RBIs and scored 73 runs. He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Michael Arey of the Milwaukee Milkmen finished second in voting, while Chris Jellema of the Medford Alouettes finished third.
