Almonte Joins 3-HR Club Tuesday, July 2nd , 2080 The New York Boulders knocked off the Southern Illinois Miners 15-8 today in spite of a fantastic performance by Miners first baseman Rob Almonte, who Almonte drilled three home runs but couldn't bring home the victory. "It's like going to the prom with the prettiest girl in school, having a great time, but then not getting a good night kiss," Almonte said later. Almonte finished the day with 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBI and 3 runs scored. Rob Almonte hit a two-run home run off Jose Barajas in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Bill Bagley in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Ryan Cook in the 9th. This year Almonte is batting .333 with 9 home runs and 19 RBIs. In 18 games he has scored 14 times. |
