Victor Velasco Chosen FL's Best Player
Wednesday, October 2nd , 2080
Wherever Victor Velasco signs on next year, the first baseman will be hauling home a good paycheck after the impressive season he just wrapped up. Velasco received word of his Frontier League Most Valuable Player Award selection earlier today. That should make him a valuable commodity for next year.

In 2080 he boasted a .302 average and a .430 on-base percentage as he piled up 75 hits, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 53 home runs, 94 RBIs and 80 runs scored.

He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Felipe Salcido of the Trois-Rivieres Aigles finished second in voting, while Ryan White of the Evansville Otters finished third.

Frontier League Announces Best Manager
Monday, September 30th , 2080
New York manager Jose Mesa Jr. caused quite a stir when he came to town. Noted for his feisty, no-nonsense attitude, Mesa Jr. threw his all into the 2080 campaign, winning over critics and fans as he went. He also won a few ballgames, running up a 65-31 record, which was good enough to take the first place spot in the Frontier League Can-Am Division standings.

"These guys are grown men. They don't need psychobabble, they need to win ballgames," Mesa Jr. snapped at his first press conference. While his approach was controversial, even for New York, it netted the 44-year-old the Frontier League Manager of the Year trophy. In response to which he replied, "It ain't molecular physics, it's baseball," and began discussing potential free agents with the local media.
