Royals Cut Down Guardians, 7-6
|
The Cleveland (AZL) Guardians got a superb performance from left fielder Eddie Hall, but the Kansas City (AZL) Royals still won the game, 7-6. Hall went 3-5 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Miguel Pelayo notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Hugo Coates finished the game for Kansas City (AZL) and earned his 1st save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for J.P. Allen? The Kansas City (AZL) shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Royals on top, 3-2. For the game, Allen had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Allen told the Kansas City (AZL) Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The loss puts Cleveland (AZL) at 1-3.
