Brewers Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Milwaukee (AZL) Brewers wiggled past the Los Angeles N (AZL) Dodgers, 3-2, at Maryvale Baseball Park. The win was highlighted by the performance of Milwaukee (AZL) pitcher Sandy Valenzuela. The win was credited to 18-year old right-handed pitcher Jake Melton in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Paul Gutschow took the loss. Milwaukee (AZL) is second in the Central Division with a record of 15-11.
The Brewers got a clutch hit from left fielder Russ Walter. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Brewers.
"Bottom line," said Los Angeles N (AZL) skipper Rich Quirin, "we didn't play well enough to win."
