Fuentes, Reds Beat Brewers, 7-5
|
The Cincinnati (AZL) Reds topped the Milwaukee (AZL) Brewers, 7-5, in Arizona Rookie League action at Ed Smith Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cincinnati (AZL) second baseman Roger Fuentes. Cincinnati (AZL) reliever Alberto Latorres got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Carlos Hernandez was tagged with the loss. Melvin Mariscal earned the save, his 1st.
Fuentes had a timely hit for Cincinnati (AZL) in the bottom of the seventh. With Milwaukee (AZL) trailing 5-3, he turned a 0-1 curveball into a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 6-5, Cincinnati (AZL).
"We'll put that win in the can," said Fuentes, "and go after the next one."
Cincinnati (AZL) is in last place in the Central Division with a record of 11-31.
