Surprise Stadium was the site for Arizona Rookie League action featuring the Texas (AZL) Rangers and Cleveland (AZL) Guardians.

Led by Oliver Staton, the Cleveland (AZL) Guardians defeated the Texas (AZL) Rangers, 18-5. Staton, a native of Somerdale, New Jersey, was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6 for the Guardians. Cleveland (AZL) reliever Jake Biller picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Alfredo Vaca was saddled with the loss.

Early in the game, Staton had a grand slam home run for Cleveland (AZL). It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Guardians on top, 4-0.

"We're trying to go out there and win games," Staton told the Cleveland (AZL) Herald, "and we played pretty well tonight."

The Guardians own a robust 34-18 mark.
