Surprise Stadium was the site for Arizona Rookie League action featuring the Texas (AZL) Rangers and Cincinnati (AZL) Reds.

Boosted by the 3-hit performance of Rick Normandeau the Cincinnati (AZL) Reds defeated the Texas (AZL) Rangers, 5-2. Tony Sanchez was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Steve Roland. Andy Epp sewed up the save, his 1st.

Eddie Adame helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Cincinnati (AZL) a 1-0 lead.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Adame said.

Cincinnati (AZL) now owns a record of 30-22.
