Voyagers Topple Cubs, 5-4
|
Chicago (Rk+) got a terrific game from center fielder Mike Lowery. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Great Falls, 5-4. Lowery was 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Jorge Gomez, who threw 81 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. The win elevated the Voyagers to 35-21.
The Voyagers got a big boost from second baseman Casey Hudson who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Cubs hurler Jesus Rueda. It was his 31st walk of the season and put Great Falls on top, 1-0.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Great Falls manager Harry Andreotta.
