The Salt Lake Bees picked up a win at Smith's Ballpark, downing the Sacramento River Cats, 8-3. On the mound for Salt Lake was right-hander Ryan Masterson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Masterson got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 8 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The triumph puts Salt Lake at 48-38 for the season.

Conor Long had a big 3-run home run for the Bees in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Salt Lake leading 5-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Justin Mullings and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Bees on top, 8-2.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Long said in reaction to the win.
