Missoula Wins Pitchers' Duel, 2-1
|
Missoula turned a good performance from starting pitcher Alfonso Torres into a 2-1 triumph over the Billings Mustangs at Dehler Park. Torres, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Clemente Casas closed the game out for Missoula, earning his 1st save.
Mike Ashby had a direct impact on the outcome. Ashby contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Missoula up, 2-1.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Billings manager Jon Koehn. "Obviously."
The win gives Missoula a record of 5-2.
