Mustangs Beat Guardians, 2-0
|
Aaron Humphrey propelled his team to victory over the Cleveland (Rk+) Guardians. The final score was 2-0, Billings. Humphrey, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was Mike Shaw, his 2nd.
The Guardians had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Mustangs going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old shortstop Chris Erhart came to the plate. Erhart hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-0 fastball from Cleveland (Rk+) hurler Dan Angelo. It was Erhart's 4th triple of the year.
"From pitch one to the last pitch, Aaron was aggressive," said Billings manager Jon Koehn.
Billings's record now stands at 14-5, placing them first in the North.
