The Winston-Salem Dash scored a convincing win at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium, defeating the Potomac Nationals, 12-2. One of the hitting stars was 29-year old catcher Bill Hughes who went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Freddie Watrous got credit for the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. The triumph puts Winston-Salem at 36-27 for the season.

Hughes had a key at-bat for Winston-Salem in the top of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Winston-Salem an early 3-0 lead.
