Round 1 Goes the Distance, Syracuse Prevails
Wednesday, September 16th , 2111
The fans in Syracuse are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Charlotte.
The Syracuse Chiefs finished off the Charlotte Knights 4-3 in the deciding game of the Round 1 played at BB&T Stadium.
They took the series 3-2 and will now head to the Round 2.
For his standout play, Syracuse third baseman Brett Rine was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .455, drove in 6 runs and scored 5 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Rine and that doomed us," said Knights manager Nick Zlomke. "Hats off to Syracuse, though. That was a great series."
The Syracuse Chiefs will play against the Louisville Bats in the next round. Louisville won their series against the Toledo Mud Hens 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
