Storm Chasers Defeat Bees
Sunday, September 27th , 2111
The Omaha Storm Chasers earned their 4th Round 2 title and now have all winter to spend basking in the glory, while the beaten Salt Lake Bees will have plenty of time to wonder what went wrong.
Omaha became the Pacific Coast League champion for 2111 with a 4-3 triumph to capture the series 4-1.
"Both clubs are talented. We just made fewer mistakes than they did," winning manager Lorenzo Villatoro said to the press corps at the postgame press conference. "We made the crucial plays and got the timely hits."
Salt Lake skipper Aaron Hunt agreed with that assessment, saying his club turned out to be "a little weak on fundamentals" at crucial times.
"I have a sneaking suspicion we will be working on fundamentals a lot next spring," he said.
On the way to the Round 2 championship, the Storm Chasers ended up in first place in the American Conference North Division and compiled a 85-57 record during the regular season.
