RubberDucks Spellbound, Ball Hurls No-Hitter Friday, September 6th , 2097 Reading Fightin Phils starter Kevin Ball said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move. "I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Ball recalled. The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career. The Reading right-hander no-hit the Akron RubberDucks 3-0 at FirstEnergy Stadium, finishing with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts, facing only 29 batters. "I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Ball admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out.
