Mendoza Shuts Out Salem, 7-0 Saturday, July 11th , 2111 In a remarkable performance, Lynchburg Hillcats starter Julio Mendoza beat the Salem Red Sox, 7-0, in an impressive 6-hit shutout. "My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this." The Hillcats hurler finished with 11 strikeouts and 2 walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball. "It was a rough one for my guys," Salem manager Tommy Gallant said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
