Hillcats Pina Strikes out 17 Nationals Wednesday, July 9th , 2098 Lynchburg Hillcats starter Guillermo Pina brought his best stuff to Ed Smith Stadium today against the Potomac Nationals, striking out 17 batters in his club's 6-1 victory. In a strong performance, the 26-year-old Pina gave up 2 hits in his 9 innings of work and issued 2 walks. "I felt good out there," he said after the game. "My fastball had a lot of life and my cutter was sharp. It was giving hitters fits and working well for me." So far this year Pina has made 17 starts, tossed 134.2 innings, struck out 204 batters and walked 33. His record is 11-1 with a 1.34 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .151 batting average.
