Green Blanks Winston-Salem, 1-0
Saturday, July 25th , 2111
All went well for Mike Green of the Wilmington Blue Rocks as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 1-0, over the Winston-Salem Dash, limiting them to 5 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Green on the day.
"Mike's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Blue Rocks manager Bobby Clontz. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Wilmington right-hander rang up 7 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Dash manager Sam Simmons. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
Green has started 9 times this year, pitched 58.1 innings, fanned 47 batters and walked 23. His current record is 5 wins and 3 losses with a 2.93 ERA.
