Lomeli and Adamson Suspended for Free-for-All
Friday, August 8th , 2110
Yesterday at Tradition Field Luis Lomeli and Randy Adamson got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the St. Lucie Mets and Tampa Yankees. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Lomeli will have to sit out 4 while Adamson would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
Looking at his present stats, Lomeli has compiled a .293 batting average in 95 games with a .362 on-base percentage, while hitting 6 home runs and driving in 46 runs.
This year, Adamson has registered 1 win and 2 losses in 6 starts with a 3.99 ERA while registering 21 strikeouts and 17 walks in 29.1 innings.
