Hummel 5-for-6 for Loons Saturday, September 6th , 2098 Great Lakes Loons shortstop Rickey Hummel had a day to remember at Dow Diamond today, ripping apart the West Michigan Whitecaps and sparking the Loons to a 5-4 victory. Hummel wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Hummel told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Rickey Hummel grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 11th.
