Hickory Punchless in 12-0 Loss to Fireflies Monday, August 5th , 2109 Mike Race was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Columbia Fireflies hurler tossed a 4-hit, complete game shutout against the Hickory Crawdads. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Race. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Race walked 1 and struck out 8 in the 12-0 victory. Race has made 8 starts this season, posting 1 win and 4 losses.
