Zero Hour: Gruber Blanks Shorebirds Saturday, June 29th , 2097 Michael Gruber hurled a fine game for the Hickory Crawdads at L.P. Frans Stadium today, holding the Delmarva Shorebirds to 3 hits in a shutout win. "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Hickory manager Rafael Tercero said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is." The right-hander had 11 strikeouts and no walks in the 5-0 victory. "An outstanding job," Delmarva manager Nick Lombardi said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game." This year Gruber has gone 7-3 with an ERA of 1.91 and has 96 strikeouts in 85 innings.
