Maldonado Sizzles -- Smokes Tourists for 5 Hits
Monday, July 11th , 2107
It takes more than one player to win a baseball game - as proven by Rafael Maldonado of the Charleston RiverDogs.
The Charleston shortstop gave it his all and dominated Asheville Tourists pitching at McCormick Field, finishing with a great 5-for-5 line. However, when the game ended, the scoreboard showed the Tourists going home the winner, 6-3.
"There's no point gloating about a 5-hit day in a loss," Maldonado said. "A loss just means you should have done more. Maybe I should have hit 5 home runs instead."
Rafael Maldonado doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Maldonado is batting .257 with 58 hits, 3 home runs, 17 RBIs, .311 OBP and has scored 25 runs.
