Wessels Slaps 5 Hits
Monday, June 23rd , 2098
Auburn Doubledays center fielder Bill Wessels had a day to remember at Dwyer Stadium today, ripping apart the Batavia Muckdogs and sparking the Doubledays to a 10-7 victory.

Wessels wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.

"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Wessels told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."

Bill Wessels singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th, struck out in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 10th.
