Lauver Blanks Mahoning Valley, 2-0 Friday, August 21st , 2111 State College Spikes right-hander Joe Lauver used his full arsenal to shoot down the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 2-0. All day long, he exhibited fine command of all his pitches, giving up 2 walks and striking out 10. Lauver allowed 7 hits in the victory. "It felt like my catcher and I were on the same page all day, and Mahoning Valley was on a way, way different page," Lauver said. So far this year, Lauver has made 12 starts, tossed 96 innings, struck out 84 batters and walked 42. His record is 8-3 with a 1.59 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .202 batting average.
