Spikes Dominate, Sweep Round 1 Tuesday, September 16th , 2110 After their 2-1 win today at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium over the Connecticut Tigers, the State College Spikes will advance to the Round 2. State College won the series by a 3-0 margin. Leading the way for the Spikes was right fielder Jose Martinez, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. "I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus." The State College Spikes don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers - Aberdeen Ironbirds series.
