Ironbirds Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire Friday, September 19th , 2110 It took a while, but the Aberdeen Ironbirds finally disposed of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 5-3 in the series clincher at Ripken Stadium. Winning the finale gave the Ironbirds the series, 3-2. They will now advance to the Round 2. The Most Valuable Player Award went to Aberdeen first baseman Justin Fisher. He batted .353 in the series, collecting 2 RBIs and scoring 2 runs. The Aberdeen Ironbirds will play against the State College Spikes in the next round.
