Trevino Selected 2104 AZL Most Valuable Player Award
Thursday, October 2nd , 2104
At the age of 20, Jesus Trevino of the Chicago N (AZL) Cubs could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2104 was good enough to win the right fielder the Arizona Rookie League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .387 batting average this year, as well as a .461 on-base percentage. He played 56 games and racked up 87 hits, 17 doubles, 6 triples, 6 home runs, 39 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 14. Bill Barnie of the San Diego (AZL) Padres finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Gary Arbogast of the Chicago A (AZL) White Sox finished third with 2 first place votes.
