Matt Judkins Chosen AZL's #1 Player
Tuesday, September 30th , 2098
At the age of 21, Matt Judkins of the Chicago N (AZL) Cubs could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2098 was good enough to win the catcher the Arizona Rookie League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .404 batting average this year, as well as a .446 on-base percentage. He played 45 games and racked up 59 hits, 15 doubles, no triples, 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 14. Werner Hutfloetz of the Texas (AZL) Rangers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Kevin Shamblin of the Los Angeles N (AZL) Dodgers finished third with 1 first place vote.
