The Red Sox offered little resistance to Mendosa, who stopped them on 2 hits, fanned 9 and walked 2. "It just felt right today," the left-handed Mendosa told reporters after the win. "Even with the rain, it didn't throw me off my rhythm." On his stats sheet for the year Mendosa shows a 5-1 record, 10 starts, 57.2 innings, 67 strikeouts and a 2.65 ERA.
