St. Louis (GCL) Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Saturday, September 27th , 2110 Gulf Coast Rookie League pundits who figured the Round 1 between the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals and Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays would go the distance were right on the mark. The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with St. Louis (GCL) coming out on top thanks to a 9-2 win in the deciding game at Louisville Grounds, to wrap things up 3-2. "You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Cardinals shortstop Wilson Robles, who was named series MVP. For the series, Robles had 9 hits for a .474 average. He had 3 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 7 runs. The St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals will play against the Colorado (GCL) Rockies in the next round.
