Rays Top Rockies in Round 2 Sunday, October 6th , 2097 Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better. It was the latter case in 2097, as the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays topped the Colorado (GCL) Rockies 13-3 tonight at Louisville Grounds to win the Round 2. It was the 10th title in franchise history. "When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Tampa Bay (GCL) first baseman Manny Ortiz, who was named series MVP. The Rays took the series 4-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the South Division and a 39-37 record. Tampa Bay (GCL) manager Robert Alvarez grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Ortiz's words. "Manny said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said.
