5-Hit Barrage by Ponce
Monday, September 7th , 2111
It takes more than one player to win a baseball game - as proven by Willie Ponce of the Grand Junction Rockies.
The Grand Junction left fielder gave it his all and dominated Missoula Osprey pitching at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field, finishing with a great 5-for-5 line. However, when the game ended, the scoreboard showed the Osprey going home the winner, 7-6.
"There's no point gloating about a 5-hit day in a loss," Ponce said. "A loss just means you should have done more. Maybe I should have hit 5 home runs instead."
Willie Ponce singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
This season, Ponce is batting .240 with 21 RBIs, 20 runs scored and 4 home runs.
