Grand Junction Wins Round 1
Wednesday, September 21st , 2112
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Hackers Ballpark as the Round 1 stretched to the final game.

It was the Grand Junction Rockies feeling the thrill of victory, with a 6-3 win over the Portland Tigers, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 2.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Portland manager Jeff Mills. "Congratulations to Grand Junction, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 3-2 series win was left fielder Jake Conger, who was named MVP. He hit .429 with a .520 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 4 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

The Grand Junction Rockies will play against the Seattle (Rk+) Mariners in the next round. Seattle (Rk+) won their series against the Washington (Rk+) Nationals 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
