PIO Announces Best Player Award
Thursday, October 16th , 2104
At the age of 20, Jared Griesbach of the Chicago (Rk+) Cubs could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2104 was good enough to win the catcher the Pioneer League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .353 batting average this year, as well as a .448 on-base percentage. He played 60 games and racked up 77 hits, 16 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 33 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 16. Steve Lunstrum of the Billings Mustangs finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Zach Lyons of the Chicago (Rk+) Cubs finished third.
