WCB Most Valuable Player Goes To Figueroa

What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2048 Most Valuable Player in the World Cup of Baseball. It had already been a very special season for Venezuela's Alex Figueroa, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Alex Figueroa gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .464 as he collected 13 hits, 3 doubles, no triples, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 16. Danny Colon of the Mexico finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Jose Montoya of the Dominican Republic finished third with 1 first place vote.

The 2048 World Cup of Baseball tournament has come to a close with the coronation of the Puerto Rico, and fans of the less-fortunate entrants can start looking forward to the next edition.
Championship Round to Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico studied their way to the top.

Led by notorious strategist and manager Ivan Sanchez, Puerto Rico came prepared to today's championship game and left with a title. Outfoxing their opponents in all facets of the game, Puerto Rico defeated Venezuela today by the final score of 6-3, sending overjoyed players and fans streaming onto the field.

"We were prepared for Venezuela," Sanchez said after the game. "We spent a lot of time studying everyone on their roster and figuring out how to play them, and you could see the results on the field."
